The arc starts with a reference to a popular scam in Japan, the "It's me" scam. Although it doesn't pan out that way in the manga, the scam usually targets the elderly with a call from a "relative" who loudly insists "It's me!" and attempts to get the victim to wire him money for imagined emergencies.
I think it's kind of cool that Ayano-san probably averted an open warfare in the underworld that could've ended with possibly a massive body count...
