The tone of this story is all over the freaking place.

MC makes it a priority to eat good food growing up and taking care of her appearance to marry into wealth, and she's stuck wearing standout beautiful clothing (surrounded by rustic adventurers) but yet somehow super surprised when a random person calls her "cute"?

Story describes the absolute destruction, shame, and inhumane treatment of the entire beastman continent/race (a worldshaking event), and somehow the MC (twice-lived) is both surprised to hear about wolfboys past, and also doesn't seem to care about the horrific nature of it which completely dwarfs her own life experiences. Heck, the wolfboy himself has to be deeply mentally disabled or simply mindbroken at this point to be able to go from telling the MC how everyone he used to know was murdered and he's a prisoner and personal playtoy of royalty and then going to the literal happy innocent child behavior right after.

@frungy: it's a kind of stories that seems to be light-hearted, fun and cute, but it's actually heavy and dark af. The people whose lives are viewed as miserable by us readers (here are MC and that wolf boy) are simply used to it and move on. Their lives are sad doesn't mean they have to be gloomy and pessimistic all day.

@Azure_1802 Kind of. Our MC is exceedingly blessed in most aspects of life and is rather prepared to handle the few difficulties as well. The wolf boy on the other hand is totally different, his life is basically a string of extreme traumatic events from a very young age while being given zero support or resource to deal with or process them, to compare the MC and wolfboy would be more like heaven and hell then anything else.

To be clear, I didn't say anything about them being happy or sad, people can move past and recover from trauma yes, but I sincerely doubt that's what happened here. My comments were more about how his behavior struck me as being from someone with a very damaged mental state, how his behavior felt very unnatural, and when you add in the horrific life experiences and ongoing abuse (he lives behind bars), you have to realize that his experiences have affected him deeply and he likely isn't able to engage with the world or other people in a healthy way because of it.
