I salute You , the one who reads My post herein written , with Mine Endless gratitude wishing Luck upon You of a Bright future ; ergo , let This Humble servant nay bubble about entrance but the matter You have came to read or more correctly : what have I meant by the Ominous term " Bird bridge " - pray not ; I will tell , however You will need to track math after what's hereunto written : while I was reading a Romance manga to spend My time , Such Self-talk has occured for the Female Human character : " I’M SO STUPID! I MEAN, THOSE TWO ARE THE WEAVER GIRL AND COWHERD!! " - alas , being the Unhinged & Lazy reader I am being , I skipped the TLN part and left baffled because I didn't know what , or rather - who , " WEAVER GIRL AND COWHERD " were ; for those who are curious the TLN is " Notes: The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl is a Chinese folktale about two literally star-crossed lovers who meet and instantly fall in love, but cannot be together because they inhabit different heavenly realms. In the Japanese version, the Weaver Girl is the daughter of the Sky King, who separates the two because their love interferes with their duties. However, she and the Cowherd are allowed to meet once a year on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month [ using a " Bird bridge " made out of magpies ] , which the Japanese celebrate as the Tanabata festival. " - causing Me to search the story , leading to This math henceforth written.

ARITHMETICPART
( I ) We need axioms as following ;
( 1 ) Magpies :
( A ) Length of a magpie : ~45 cm ( 0.45 meters ) ,
( B ) Wingspan : ~60 cm ( 0.6 meters ) ,
( V ) Thickness / Height ( chest to back ) : ~10 cm ( 0.1 meters ) ,
( G ) Volume per bird ( approx. ) : ~0.001 cubic meters ,
( D ) Weight per bird : 200 GR ,
( 2 ) Bridge :
( A ) Length :
( a ) 16 light-years between Vega & Altair = 151 376 000 000 000 km ,
( b ) Add star girth : + 3 000 000 km from Vega & + 2 400 000 km from Altair ; because , We will put the bridge under Them ,
( c ) Final Bridge Length : 151 381 400 000 000 km ,
( B ) Width : 3 000 000 km ,
( V ) Layer amount : 2 624 ; taken from 600 BCE until 2025 ,
( II ) Now let Us construct 1 layer ;
( 1 ) Magpies along the length :
( A ) Bridge length is from (I/(2.A.c)) ,
( B ) Magpie body length is 0.00045 km (I/(1.A)) ,
( C ) Magpies lengthwise = (I/(2.A.c)) ÷ (II/(1.B)) ≈ 3.3640311 × 10¹⁷ magpies ,
( 2 ) Magpies across the width :
( A ) Magpie wingspan is 0.0006 km from (I/(1.B)) ,
( B ) Magpies widthwise = (I/(2.B)) ÷ (II/(2.A)) = 5.0 × 10⁹ magpies ,
( 3 ) Therefore ; Total magpies is as follows :
L × W × h = ( 3.3640311 × 10¹⁷ ) × ( 5.0 × 10⁹ ) × 1 ≈ 1.6820156 × 10²⁷ , therefore ;
Let : M = 1.6820156 × 10²⁷ , Number of magpies in one layer (II/(3)) Vₘ = 0.001 m³ , Volume per magpie (I/(1.G))
Then : V₁ = M × Vₘ = ( 1.6820156 × 10²⁷ ) × 0.001 = 1.6820156 × 10²⁴ m³ = 1.6820156 × 10¹⁵ km³
( III ) Now let Us construct All layers , given orihime & hikoboshi re-build the bridge annually - the year of Our lord twenty twenty-five included ;
Let : L = (I/(2.V)) , h = (I/(1.V)) , V₁ = Result of (II/(3)) , M₁ = 1.6820156 × 10²⁷
Then : H = L × h = 2 624 × 0.1 = 262.4 m
Therefore ;
= Vₜ = L × V₁ = 2624 × ( 1.6820156 × 10²⁴ ) = 4.4136089 × 10²⁷ m³ = 4.4136089 × 10¹⁸ km³

= Mₜ = L × M₁ = 2 624 × ( 1.6820156 × 10²⁷ ) = 4.4136089 × 10³⁰
( IV ) Now let Us explain the logistics of This operation ; They meet once a year , so We take the Lunar calendar and exclude the One Single day They meet :
Let : Lunar year ≈ 354 days
Exclude Tanabata → Remaining means D = 354 − 1 = 353
t = D × 86 400 = 30 499 200 seconds
Let : Sm be " Sewing times " , S be " Sewings "
Then : S = M × Sm = ( 1.6820156 × 10²⁷ ) × 4 = 6.7280624 × 10²⁷
Therefore ; S/t ≈ 2.206×10²⁰ & M/t ≈ 5.515 × 10¹⁹

What if the magpies weren't metaphor but an Annual massacre is the reason This math hereinbefore exists : ergo ; Single layer of This bridge requires over 1.6 quadrilliard Avian corpses - yes , per year - and since This Divine lovers' commute began around 600 years , They've made This journey every year up to now totaling to 2 624 years , thus 2 624 Full layers of magpie lay layer upon layer , grief upon grief the the bridge's Total Death toll to date becomes over 4 quintillion magpies - which is an amount so Mind-shatteringly absurd that It could bury the earth 10 000 times over and Their packed , mummified remains exceeds 4 trillion Cubic kilometers in volume , and worst of all ; this isn't a One-time horror as It happens annually so We are left with 353 days - just under a full lunar calendar - for the bridge to be repaired which - consequently - means that Every second for those 30 million seconds , over 55 Trillion magpies must be stitched - which demands 37 orders of magnitude more birds per annual layer than Actually exist , so may I ask You , Dear reader , know how many birds that is , Answer is thus : picture the Grand canyon , then picture another canyon Every Single metre from here to Alpha Centauri and You'll still be short ; notwithstanding and that rate is 400 million times the Fastest known Cell Division rate in biology , moreover even a Type 3 Kardaschev civilisation on phenylcyclohexyl-piperidine couldn't spool corpses that quickly - more than 200 trillion Stitching actions must be executed without pause 7/24 per second ; alas , this , verily , is a Romance Folk-story , as long as We turn a Blind eye to the logistics.

We have a schizoposter in MDF I'm crying from joy

How awful of them to kill magpies just to build bridges. Do woods not exist in China? What is happening? Are they have the stupid?

yes, however: you missed one crucial detail from which the term "bird bridge" came from; that is a detail whence it proclaim that the term came from a folktale. terms coming from a folktale have unreliable meaning and may or may not be reliable when it speculated in literal meaning: bird may means avian creature, something that holding up in a sky, a spy, and many more; bridge may means connection, a literal bridge, a literal boat, a literal ship, and many more; thus making the meaning of the term "bird bridge" quite ambiguous. pulling calculation based on folktale is as meaningful as pulling cotton candy out of clear sky.

Is there any source for this image? Why is there a sickening amount of dead magpies; would the magpies not decay every year?
Let Me answer Your questions : firstly ; source for This image is Me and generated using a L.L.M. known as 4o by OpenAI Ireland Ltd. , secondly ; because We are talking about 16 Light years between 2 Active stars bigger than Our sun , and betwixt This distance Each year for 2 624 years , the orihime & hikoboshi rebuild the bridge with ~1.68 × 10²⁷ magpies , (II/(3)) - value M , causing Those layers stack up into a Quadrilliard‑scale Corpse tower , lastly ; because the environment of Outer space achieves a Near-perfect vacuum with an Average temperature of approx. 2.7K ( cosmic microwave background radiation ) , Biological decomposition is Fundamentally inhibited , and We know that Terrestrial decomposition processes depend heavily on Microbial & Enzymatic activity - i.e./ primarily from Aerobic , e.g./ Pseudomonas , Bacillus , bacteria & Anaerobic , e.g./ Clostridium perfringens , Bacteroides fragilis , bacteria - both of which require moisture , oxygen - or Its absence , respectively - and , Most crucially , temperatures above the Freezing point of Dihydrogen monoxide , Ideally - at Sea level in 24DC conditions , to maintain Their Metabolic functions , however at Cryogenic temperatures - Generally defined as Those below 123K and certainly at/below LN₂ temperature , which is 77K - Biological activity halts entirely , with Previous information We can deduce that Empty space between 2 stars dips far below that , to ~2.7K , meaning not only Dihydrogen monoxide is frozen solid - but no known Microbial life can maintain structure , let alone continue Metabolic action , under Those Thermodynamic conditions - so , in essence , This is cryopreservation , just on an Interstellar scale , moreover We can use Our knowledge on Human technology , consequently revealing to Us that Cryogenic freezing is already being used to preserve Biological samples - be It cells , tissues , even entire organisms - with the intention of halting Molecular degradation , and furthermore : even Oxidative damage is minimized in space due to the vacuum's lack of Reactive gases , meaning without oxygen , You eliminate Self-digestion & Oxidative rancidity - 2 secondary Decay pathways - and since There's no atmosphere ; there's no wind , no moisture , no insects , no scavengers meaning , once a magpie dies and is frozen in space , It is - instantly , not through desiccation , but with Cryogenic stasis - mummified , and Their bodies would remain structurally intact for Milliards of years unless subjected to sublimation by Stray radiation or collisions with Micro-meteoroids , and although both are Real risks , They are negligible at the scales We are talking about combined with constant addition of New layers ; thus , I wish Mine explanation helps You , Esteemed reader.

Illustrious interlocutor of Mine , I thank You for Your inquiry on This matter - and think that I ought to answer within the boundaries the Intellectual rigour It deserves , therefore - shall It be known that ; orihime - associated with the star α Lyrae - & Hikoboshi - associated with α Aquilae - are permitted to reunite Once annually - specifically on 7ᵗʰ month's 7ᵗʰ day - according to the Chinese 乞巧 & Korean 칠석 & Japanese 七夕 traditions on that night , a flock of magpies ( 喜鵲xǐquè/鵲カササギ / 까치 ) is " Assembling across the 天の川あまのがは / 天河tiānhé ( also known as : 雲漢 , 銀河 , 天漢 , 星河 , 星漢 , 銀漢 , 河漢 , 雲河 ) / 은하수 and form a Living bridge so that the 2 lovers can cross the Celestial river and meet. " and the legend refers generically to " magpies " - formally , Family corvidae - and the term , as laid before , corresponds to chinese 喜鹊 & japanese 鵲 & korean 까치 , however ; one must note that These words denote magpies without specifying a Precise Taxonomic species so We will use Modern interpretations and They sometimes identify Them [ magpies ] as the Eurasian magpie , formally - Pica pica , or the Azure‑winged magpie - formally , Cyanopica cyanus - but We must take into consideration that There is no single , universally accepted species , causing Us to get the Average measurements for It ; nonetheless , in every Major variant of the tale , These birds are positioned between orihime & hikoboshi , spanning the Milky Way Itself so that the lovers on Opposite sides can cross via the Magpie‑formed bridge - as in , a " Bird bridge " , alas ; one must note that as - I have laid out earlier - You can't keep Living birds in space alive , and even if We did keep Them alive bridging These distances at Avian Flight speeds ( around 20 m/s ) would require on the order of 10¹² - 10¹⁴ years - which is Far longer than any bird's Life span or , even , the age of the Observable universe - therefore , We are killing Them and sewing Them across the space the stars herein written with the width of 3 million kilometers for to accommodate Bigger star α Lyrae ; meaning , in essence , if We take orihime & hikoboshi meets using magpies , and orihime & hikoboshi are α Lyrae & α Aquilae meet using magpies - in order to achieve the meeting We need dead birds , in Mind-blowing amounts that is. Your most Obliged servant wishes You a Pleasant day , and thanks for Your scrutiny and objection.
