Incredible, the Federation couldn't even deal with the clean up of the Oprah Garute let alone continue the investigation. They make FEMA look reliable.

They say any sufficiently-advanced bureaucracy is indistinguishable from inaction.

@Me I'm laughing more than i should from that, great adaptation of a quote pal.

On other note, i know there is some insatisfaction from the time skip and I understand why but i think in this chapter the fact they pointed of Birdy and Tsutomu risk of melding consciousness is an explanation for that and the fact that there was already 2 other investigators and a religious assassin dealing with the situation serves a buffer for the blunder. But as @Me and @ironclad pointed it is still an astronomical blunder.

I've been thinking of Birdy the Mighty using a realistic view of how the events unfold, in the real world, the situations that happen like in this manga aren't solved from a moment to another.

@alacaelum Looking at it that way, the Federation has no real interest in dealing with Christella Revi as she's a convenient scapegoat, and distraction while they centralize power and extend their reach in the name of counter-terrorism.

The problems around terrorism is just a little bit exaggerated. Actually, catch a terrorist is action for satisfying masses and selfishness of certain persons. And if you see when no one care about dangerous terrorist, it is real no one care about, because they can't do any big thing. Rather than this, no one and never speaking about saboteurs, whos much more dangerous and can destroy supply, transport and communication.

This chapter really just reinforces how unnecessary the time skip was.

@IronClad

That's a good interpretation, but later in the series we are shown that the Federation actually really does want to find Revi for pretty serious reasons, which makes the timeskip even more baffling.

@LouWhohl I can't say that the time skip is perfect, but let me say some points to defend it a little.

1- Cristella Revi clearly has a genius level intellect, not just a scientific mind but in a strategic level too, so she isn't the type to be captured easily from the start.

2- I fell that Revi has the advantage on earth because of the structure the altans refugees left, she may have a connection with the empire.

3- The federation has to deal with the alliance too, so even if they really to put their hands on Revi they don't have inexhaustible resources to throw around, even more so when you remember they are a government like any other on earth where people have their own agendas.

4- To be simple about the other investigators: Kashu is almost lazy and doesn't seem to have any commitment based on professional principles; Capela is simple a maniac with zero subtlety; the priest ( forgot her name ) seems to be playing the long-con and don't really work for the federation, her bosses have their own desires.
