Woa! Didn't expect the story to take such a dark turn! I didn't read the tags carefully. Can't believe Fujiko-sensei wrote stories like this. I like how he had the guts to depict the Imperial Army as evil and cruel. It's something we've seen in Doraemon as well. Not sure what the guy on the cover has to do with the story. We always see him eating noodles in Doraemon.
Thanks for translating this, deux!

It sounds like the uncle had a good time during the war and a content life.
In reality there were probably many Japanese tourists disrespecting Hong Kong tour guides and Chinese people, but none of them ever received any comeuppance.

Surprisingly similar to how foie gras is made, since its only the liver I wonder whats the leftover duck are used and is there a different meat taste from the forced feeding.Anyway, I thought only the roasting (crispy skin) makes it a peking duck but there is force feeding as well. the more you know.jpg

Thanks for the support. There are two volumes of Black Humour with 800 pages in total. I've read up to around 15 oneshots so far. The ramen guy was featured in one of them as a salaryman. While the other guy on volume 2's cover was the laughing salesman. Mumako from the "Castle" chapter also has her own manga/anime series. I don't know if there's more of the ramen guy from the rest of Black Humour.

As for the authors, after they parted, Fujiko Fujio (A) focused on writing mangas for adults. Some of his works even got canceled for being too dark. While Fujiko F. Fujio continues to write for children but opened up for all all ages as well. He also has some adult oriented manga which I'm interested in. Maybe I'll do a few suspense/horror oneshots. My friend says there's some good oneshot of his about serial killer/rapist. We'll get there eventually.

In the meantime, I hope you'll enjoy.

the duo made over 300 oneshots. I have around 100 of them in my hands and slowly going thru ~2500 pages, good thing more than half of them I already read as a kid back in Asia such as: The Draw of Cambyses, A Dish For the Minotaur etc which already been scanlated in English. I only went back to read Fujioko Fujio recently after 15,20 years so I don't know how much of their works have been released in North America . I will do some research before getting to work on something to avoid double release. Not gonna do the whole 100 oneshots but I will def do some of them. And they don't always have to be dark stuffs . Oh well, Cambyses and Minotaur are pretty dark without us seeing anyone get killed anyways.

Well.... that's awfully cruel to the ducks. Amazing what cruelty we humans subject other living things to for something so... irrelevant. The more I learn, the more depressing the story gets.
