A lot of it is process of elimination.

Japan only really cares about the first 5 Wizardry games (before they started making their own), but specifically they LOVED Wizardry 1-3.

But those games don't have very deep item lists; Wizardry 1 has only 28 different weapons, and Wizardry 2 and 3 only add a few more on top of those.

Though in this case I think I am wrong; looking again I can't find a weapon with the Critical Hit property (Critical Hits in Wizardry are instant-kill decapitations).
There is game this manga inspire from?!!!

Do you think I need to dive to the rabbit hole to enjoy this manga?

The games this manga draws from are very old, from the time where all the story you got was a page in the manual and a paragraph when you beat the game. So the bulk of the game was exploring the dungeon, drawing a map by hand, grinding experience, and starting over when the game screwed you over and wiped out your whole party.

If you want an idea about what they looked like, well page 13 is an accurate representation of how the games looked before they started porting them to NES/SNES/Playstation 1. As for if you should play them, well, that style of game is very much an acquired taste. There's a modern port of the first game (Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord) with some nice quality of life options that's the best entry point currently, but honestly I'd say go emulate the fan translation of the SNES port to see if you actually enjoy this kind of game before you spend money on anything.

Storywise you don't miss out by not having played any of them; the main thing you're missing out are all the little nods to game mechanics. For instance a later chapter talks about how adventurers will go into the dungeon to cast healing spells before returning to sleep in the stables; that's an actual thing players used to do because staying in the stables was free and recharged your magic but didn't recover your health. The manga explains it perfectly fine, but it's a fun little nod to the people who are familiar with the old game.
