What level does a Samurai learn the enduring spirit that allows him to get resurrected even if years have passed? :thonk:
That's just a feature of Wizardry as far as I know 😂

Does that means he's strong? At what level does someone is considered "high level"?
Original Wizardry doesn't have a level cap, but that's well into the "you're just messing around" stage.

Level 13-15 is when you can consider making serious attempts on the last boss if you're not using "Advanced" classes such as Samurai or Bishops as your primary spell casters. By 15 a basic Mage or Priest has a good shot at knowing all their spells which is what you really want to try and rush down the final level.

Yep, felt the same, it looked like he wanted to get hurt.
My guess is that his range is limited, the slash attack was out of range and the explosion wouldn't have reached the wizard too, so he entered the darkness cloud to bait the villain in a sense of security when dog got around it for her surprise attack.
Still feels like he could have easily defeated the guy through some other tactic and this was just the mangaka deciding to be dumb.

I'm going to say it was definitely because the mangaka wanted it to look dramatic. For once this isn't some weird quirk of how Wizardry works 😂

No, just a weird quirk of turn based games in general. "Ah shit, wrong command. Please don't kill me, please don't kill me, please don't kill me.... Good, now for the right thing this time!" :dogkek:

Granted I'm not familiar with Wizardry, but I don't feel like a Samurai class should learn magic... >_>
Wizardry's classes come from a time when we didn't have a lot established fantasy tropes, so it's all rather slapdash. However weebs are going to be weebs, regardless of the decade, so of course we get Samurai AND Ninjas.

Here's your breakdown:

Basic Classes

Fighter - hits things, high health and can use most of the best weapons and armor
Priest - heals things, can hit things somewhat, can blast things a little
Mage - can blast things a lot and has a few utility spells (like teleport)
Thief - opens treasure chests (seriously they suck in combat, don't put them up front)

Advanced Classes

Bishop - Priest + Mage, but loses the Priest's ability to be on the front row. Can also Identify treasure for free
Samurai - Fighter + Mage, only class that can use the Murasame
Lord - Fighter + Priest, only class that can use the Lord's Garb/Garb of Lords (high defense, regenerates health)
Ninja - Fighter + Thief. 1 extra attack per round compared to other classes. Double unarmed damage. Defense improves as they level up if they're not wearing armor. Has a chance to Critical Hit (in this game Instantly Kill) 1 monster per round

All I know from the Wizardry series is from Sseth video, but reading a manga based on it is pretty freaking sick to be honest!

Man, those advanced classes. :aquadrink: Bishop feels ok for priest + mage, but where does fighter + mage = Samurai? If anything, it'd be more like a warmage or a spellsword. Fighter + Priest = Lord... Ok, I can see it. It's more usually Paladin, but a Lord in some RPGs is akin to that. Fighter + Thief. It would work... But coming from DnD, the description looks more like a Monk to me. I will admit that Ninjas are a type of Warrior Monk, so it "kinda" works, but still... I've got doubts. All in all, it kinda tracks, except for Samurai.

It really is the epitome of just tossing in whatever seemed cool at the time.

I don't actually mind Ninjas getting the trap disarming stuff, but all the unarmed combat stuff is more inline with how I think of Monks.

Though funnily enough, most of the Ninja stuff scales too slowly to be useful; you have to go well past the level where you can clear the game for that unarmored defense to matter. The best way to play them is to slap them in the heaviest armor you can find and give them a sword + shield to use.
