It's a little unclear from the manga, but yes he did check multiple times. Problem was that troll kept reposting the bad build info, and Yuri had the bad luck to check exactly when the troll info was up.

I'm trying to think of any videogames where luck isn't a factor or where the developers try to minimize random chance as much as possible. Beyond maybe Fighting games. I genuinely can't think of anything; and isekai is usually based on MMOs or JRPGs.
