I know, but in her situation I can't help but feel bad for her. Letting her rot away and die would do no good for him either, it'd likely just make him feel even more miserable in the long run. Besides, she was already at death's door anyway, at least by showing her some kindness in her final moments he can show that he grew, that he is not like her, etc, and find some inner peace in that.

True, but then again she was showing symptoms and some people noticed that her being an introvert.

She asked to be left alone twice, think staying by her side all the time caused her more distress, maybe Saiichi knowing that was a way for causing her harm as she did to him in the past, knowing she can't do nothing about it in her physical and mental condition.

Think it's the cause of past, we now know a lot more about psychology, she didn't really want to get married, she went with her family and husband sister flow and it went haywire.
