Damn girl. That was some cold rich person shit if I've ever seen it. She cared until it inconvenienced her and then she left without helping at all. A cute item she can afford to replace or the well being of a poor abused girl....

Hopefully this becomes a point of regret for her and she can't stop thinking about how she did the wrong thing.

Objectively, Kazuki did something very terrible especially considering that they’re friends. But I don’t think it is very far fetched from what a lot of people do. Many people wouldn’t hand over their designer sneakers to a barefoot homeless man on the street, nor would they give a Burberry scarf away casually to someone who needs it more.

I’m not even sure if Kazuki even understands what Moeka is going through. I suspect she thinks it was a roughhousing incident; we’re never shown Moeka’s family situation and Kazuki naively thinks that calling the police would help.

Also Kazuki wasn’t completely callous - she’s twisting and folding the handkerchief behind her back, but what ultimately pushes her to step away is her father calling her. It must have been jarring to step away from the glamorous party with a budding new romance to find your friend softly contemplating suicide. Kazuki’s childhood sweetheart is a good-looking rich heir, while Moeka’s ex-boyfriend is a shitty good for nothing bum. Being placed on the spot like that, at such a young age, I don’t see Kazuki’s decision to be unrealistic. I think she’ll ultimately learn how callous this was; this is the same person who picks dead pets to bury them with her own hands.

It’s interesting to note that Moeka did see the handkerchief; Kazuki was holding onto it while she was calling after her.

It's not unrealistic even for an adult. It's a lot to handle for someone who has no idea how to make the situation better. It's still sad to see her decision but it is also a good point of learning for her if she chooses to use it as one. She can think about it and make better choices in the future for the sake of her friend or hide from the ugliness of the world that she's been sheltered from. This is a solid set-up for character growth.

The way she talked to the reader about her friend in a prior chapter has me worried her friend isn't going to have a happy ending...

How dare someone hurt my sweet baby?! :meguuusad:

As the everyone else said, Kazuki did something terrible and callous and by the looks of it she did realize it in the end before her father stopped her from doing anything, although it did seem like she used it as a convenient excuse to run away from a deeply uncomfortable situation. I hope she will do something about it but I also hope that Moeka wouldn't just leave her off the hook because she did notice the handkerchief. Moeka needs to call her out on it because no matter how much she finds Kazuki amusing, Kazuiki's ignorance born from privilege makes her unable to empathize and understand people who are not well off like her and she pretty much looks down on them and sees them as lesser.

Also, the introduction of the rich heir sweetheart really doesn't help with the yuri-bait vibes I'm picking up although I don't think the romance is really the main focus of this story

Damn, what a cold hearted bitch. I hope this doesn't become suffering porn from start to end since there is also the "we spent 3 years" thing at the beginning.

Both leads are bi/demi? That is generally not a great sign in Japanese manga, as it almost always indicates a heterosexual relationship will happen in the end. The way this is being told as a flashback doesn't inspire hope for a different ending either.
