With her level of alcoholism and recklessness, I'm surprised it's not constant and still catches her off guard. It's like living in McDonald's and being horrified every time you realize you've gained weight.

I like how the series takes her alcoholism seriously, but at the same time it doesn't. Just enough to give her character a lot of depth but not too much until it gets depressing. Or it can get depressing at times like here, but still lead to fun shenanigans for us to read.
