It is entirely done only to force the plot along because for some reason, the author thought doing LITERALLY THE VERY THING THEY SAID TO AVOID, WHICH THEY SAID MULTPLE TIMES, AND EVEN SAID IT AS THEY WERE DOING IT made sense.
For 1, Ria's action isn't incorrect. She even has a place set up specifically for these knd of situations it seems. However MC's has to be either intentionally starting shit for no reason, or brain damaged. To him, "Dont try and start anything with them" = call the guy a bastard twice. But the biggest idiot is the so called genious who I can't even begin to comprehend why she not only unsheathed his sword, but did it in a way that swung it so overexageratedly that she hit the guy in the head. That has to be intentionally done, but why?
Simple answer, make the characters becoke temporarily completely incompetent morons to force an easily avoidable situation that the author can use to push the plot or introduce a new character with.
