I'm 100% on the "sunk cost" train so I'll be here until the end, but I am amazed at just how hard the author's glazing Miyuki and now her brother in absolving them of their bullshit this whole time. Truly wondrous.

Everyone should have one person in their life who excuses and defends their problematic behavior as hard as the author does for the FL of this series.

Look, I really hate love triangles and that kind of thing. I really do. But I'm serious, the FL is really starting to get on my nerves. Actually, scrap that, the AUTHOR is getting on my nerves.

There's a limit to how much you can keep pushing the reader's patience. We literally just got out of one incredibly stupid situation, only to immediately get thrown into another one. You really made Sorata go through all that shit ONE MORE TIME, just so Miyuki could put him down again? Seriously? At this point, just add another girl for him and be done with it. I MEAN IT. And I say that as someone who absolutely hates love triangles.

This isn't funny or cute anymore. It's borderline toxic.

And the author somehow makes it even more frustrating by constantly keeping Sorata out of the picture in scenes where he should be the person Miyuki is turning to. She'll ask literally anyone else about something, but not him. Anyone. Even though she was just giving him shit about how he "doesn't talk enough." COME ON. How is he supposed to communicate with you when you keep going to everyone else instead of actually talking to him?

And her brother isn't helping either. Both Miyuki and her brother seem to love putting Sorata down. How exactly is that supposed to be funny? At some point, it stops feeling like playful teasing and starts feeling like Sorata is just the punching bag for everyone around him, including the author.

And seriously, I want people to actually start paying attention to this: how often do Sorata and Miyuki genuinely get to be alone together compared to how much time Miyuki spends interacting with other characters? And, more importantly, how often does Sorata actually get to participate in the moments where Miyuki's character is being developed?

Because that's the thing that's really bothering me now.

Sorata is supposed to be the protagonist, and yet it increasingly feels like everyone else gets more depth, agency, importance, and meaningful interactions than he does. Miyuki gets to have all these conversations and relationships with other characters, while Sorata is constantly pushed to the side, brought in just to react, get embarrassed, get put down, or become the punchline.

At this point, Sorata genuinely feels like the punching bag for Miyuki, her brother, the other characters, and the author himself.

And I'm sorry, but how is that supposed to be funny?

I don't even need Sorata to get another girl. I just want the story to stop treating him like the least important person in his own romance. Why authors keep making protagonist they don't like? Our boy Sorata don't deserve any of this bs.

It truly has, the author has doubled down…no, actually, tripled down on the premise of the FL being unable to directly communicate thoughts and feelings, while our poor ML is left to constantly deal with his severe self-esteem issues (which only get exacerbated by FL’s inability to express her love for him and being constantly ridiculed by FL’s older brother)

I feel like this author has the opposite of an axe problem. The Orihime and Hikoboshi myth was introduced a few chapters ago (seemingly to draw themes), the author realized Sorata and Miyuki were too close, and has been throwing obstacles between them ever since.
Instead of the typical romantic scenerios with little progress, most chapters has Sorata dealing with some bs the author dropped on him. It's gotten old chapters ago.
Sorata, our earnest puppy of an MC grappling with his insecurities, is the reason I continue read this manga. If his struggles continue to get undercut in unclimactic fashion, I'll truely check out from this series

After skimming chapters it's struck me how little time the main pair spend alone together. They're constantly flanked by the supporting characters. After An gets introducedin ch.3 the pair only get snippets when they drift away from the group. They really aught to have more time together.

Of course, this might lead to progress so we can't have that hahaha.
