She's definitely coming across as an abrasive, extrovert-type, with her going out the way to make acquaintances

I'm sure she means well, but I don't imagine she will do anything other than be a vehicle for more misunderstanding hijinks between Sorata and Miyuki.

I like how Japanese is already an ambiguous language, but there are still dialects that make it more confusing on top of everything
this manga has 100 chapters worth of misunderstandings left in it

All the damn implied subjects that can cause confusion don't translate well. How many times have you seen "suki da" translated as "I like you" or "I love you" in a confession? It could also refer to the ice cream they're enjoying together.

If you try to make English as ambiguous by leaving critical need-to-know information out then pretend you have a conversation between a boy and a girl about baseball and then this happens:

(Conversation about baseball)
(A pause occurs)
G: Like
B: Date?
G: Baseball

The girl was still talking baseball and saying she liked it. The boy thought she was saying she liked him and he asked if she wanted to date. The girl reaffirmed she was talking about baseball.
