These two flashback chapters might be my favorite in the series so far.
This was really cute.
I like that its not a cliche "oh he saved me from something and now I love him" but a more realistic slow realization at his efforts
Agreed. Everything felt quite grounded and down to earth. Miyuki had trouble interacting with people, but nothing too tragic or dramatic, and she herself points out she had no such troubles with her family, who offered love and support. She didn't mesh well with Sorata for years, but it's not that she disliked him. Her crush is the result of a long process.

this chapter kind of made me realize how rare it is for the average romcom manga to have a good backstory and telling of the past that isnt just "haha we played as kids and promissed to marry each other but you kind of forgor"

Seriously, does japan have like the weakest sandels ever?! Like why is it such a trophe for the sandels to snap lol?
They just get worn out over time. There's multiple factors that put stress on that particular section of strap so it breaks most frequently there, and then that becomes "coincidental" when the plot needs it.

Okay, the instance where she mentions -- she didn't like when things didn't go her way, and easily gave up; that is good characterization.
Otherwise I am so sick of making characters as perfect gods that master any activity they pick, when in reality people just stick with what they are good at. Apart from that one line, the rest of it is just generic lowkey edgy slop.
