I don't think there's been any indication this is a continuation of the one shot, just a serialization of it. No detail from the One shot should be considered canonical to the serial manga, things change from one shot to serialization all the time.

I guess that could be true, but... this serialisation isn't anywhere near as compelling without the one shot, imo. The one shot established these characters and their relationship extremely well.
