reading here again, makes me feel bad for Pickup-paisen... sure he is too pushy and all but mostly he is a nice guy and tries to help too and here I know it was to make it clear to him, but both Ichikara and Yamada were so cold....

I mean, he's not awful, but like Moe said at one point, he's the type of guy you gotta be super freaking upfront with, otherwise he's not gonna give up. But yeah, he got pretty destroyed here.

"Paisen" is a pretty common slang for "senpai" and is not generally derogatory. Ichikawa's mocking nickname for him (which I'm guessing you were thinking of) was "nanpaisen", which is a combination of paisen and "nanpa" (hitting on girls). There might also be a another layer of wordplay here since the guy's name is Nanjou and it may sound to others like a nickname ("Nan-paisen").

Yeah... Nanjou-senpai is pretty damn pushy, but Yamada does need to make it clear to him she's not interested at all... though that 'sayonara' certainly was pretty blunt, based on the TN.

I also agree with those that say he stopped Kyo from prematurely confessing right here. He kinda realizes the situation a bit better than most, even though he's tried to use some sneaky and subversive tactics just to get contact info.

Kyo needs to confess with his own courage and straight to Anna, and Nanjou understands this. Kyo still has some more growing to do before he's truly ready for that moment.

Little by little, he's working through things for himself. This story is just as much about his character growth, and Anna's, as it is their relationship.
