@Keir its not about the punishment by the law i imagine,(dont know japanese law tho) its more about having to live booth with the stigma of having been raped and having murderd someone, he cant do anything about the first stigma, but he for some reason decides that he should keep the second stigma away from her, that and he thinks she could not bear knowing she killed a man
