The author started milking this storyline way too soon. What development is this chapter even supposed to bring to their dynamic and relationship?

Too slow, 19 chapters in and the relationship ain't progressing anywhere. Gal still can't tone it down, but MC is also still too much of a wimp. It feels like the same situation every chapter, just with different contexts. Feels more like reading different one-shots rather than one connected story.
