I'd usually tend to agree, if this MC hasn't had a pretty damn rough life, he was poor as hell, but still worked his butt off to get into high school, his parents abandoned him to basically 50 million yen debt, etc...

I'd honestly think a person like that would be able to somewhat control himself in a situation like that, would make sense.
