I mean it's not explained yet, or maybe the author has it on it's notes and might add why, or what are guns in like tankobon extra or smth, till now it's pretty solid to be fair. Like them inventing guns after the crash is super plausible, like it was born out of a necessity for survival.Seriously asking if any of the western ships didn't arrive in Japan, then how did the Japan here looks so much like the Japan now.. if there's no western ships how did the Japs got guns and etc, since firearms came from outside Japan and got imported to Japan, and Oda Nobunaga would not get his gun from the dutch or portuguese and possibly lose against Takeda in Nagashino battle because of that Toyotomi Hideyoshi will not unify Japan. And since they said they became isolated because the sea changed they should have less technological advancement than the current one. The reason Japan could catch up with the rest of the world was because Perry (America) forced the Japs to open up border and import a lot of knowledge and once Japs catch up with the rest of the world they use it to wage war with the surrounding nations to acquire resources to boost the Japs growth in the late 19th and early 20th century.
The world building are good but it didn't make sense if they make the sea couldn't be crossed, they would still have medieval era technology if it did. The solution of this would be that maybe there are other people that are reincarnated here from modern Japan long before the MC born. But well it's fiction.. I will enjoy it since for now the story and the art are good and it's free too (Can't complain about it).
Anyway as always thanks for the chapter, and thank you for bringing it here.
well, if we are talking about "genre", i don't think it is. it's still japan, on earth, but in a different timeline. it's similar to inuyasha, without a well. Its technically and Isekai because:
1 That little boy don't know nothing about that world (and us reading a lot of mangas we are taking by surprised a LOT of times by things happening in this manga beside being us experts in fantasy stories)
2 He die and go to another earth with a different history and system logic
guess at that point, there were more interaction with the mainlands than being approached from the east by gunboatsSeriously asking if any of the western ships didn't arrive in Japan, then how did the Japan here looks so much like the Japan now.. if there's no western ships how did the Japs got guns and etc, since firearms came from outside Japan and got imported to Japan, and Oda Nobunaga would not get his gun from the dutch or portuguese and possibly lose against Takeda in Nagashino battle because of that Toyotomi Hideyoshi will not unify Japan. Cities - prior to the Industrial Revolution - had massively smaller populations compared to today. London didn't break 50k until about 1500 AD, and it didn't hit 1 million until 1811 AD. This is a city that Julius Caesar could've visited, by the way, and one of the largest in Europe. It's likely that the cities in this universe are far smaller in population due to the constraints of finding enough food for their populations. Also, the cities were probably mixed-zoning with loads of farmland in and around them where they'd be easier to protect. If the cities were cutoff from the countryside then how did they procure enough food to a feed a city, enough wood to warm a city, building housing, and run the forges? A city is a starving beast that is so dependent on the countryside that it'll die in short order if cut off.
Historically, cities never had large populations. It took London until the 1500s to crack 50k people, and that city was founded by the Romans in the first century AD. It's very possible for coastal cities to meet their caloric intake needs with just a modest amount of farmland in the city supplemented by pigs and fish. Pigs, in particular, are valuable because they can and will eat anything even vaguely edible, including human waste, and turn it into calories. You'd have to dedicate more of the city space to rearing pigs and possibly chickens, since the latter can also live off of insects. With very calorie dense (per acre) crops like rice, it's possible to make up the remaining calories the average citizen needs. Japan notoriously has very little land for farming, and small rice paddies were able to produce surplus rice.If the cities were cutoff from the countryside then how did they procure enough food to a feed a city, enough wood to warm a city, building housing, and run the forges?
