This is such a pure manga. Some would say that 18 chaps is too late for Kaito to be getting backstory, but I like the depth it adds to his character from the beginning till now. While his childish rejection of girly things worked fine on its own, this just spices it up a bit.
It also made me appreciate the magic system of confidence and self esteem even more. part of my enjoyment of this series is seeing the world confront him while knowing he could lose something important if he loses his drive. it makes it surprisingly tense. For example, this chapter I was audibly making pained noises as this 11 yr old grappled with the thought of disappointing his dead mum. As someone who likes darkness, i couldn't help but imagine it going down such a route, where he was torn between the thoughts of his parents and his being a magical girl. Therefore, even if it wasn't unexpected, the uplifting ending was very effective for me. Of course, thats probably a very personal thing. Other readers probably don't expect the manga to break the minds of children...
It also just helps that everyone is really cute. I kind of prefer normal Kaito to magical so I was weak to this chapter.
Most of all, I just like how generally uplifting the manga is as a whole. It takes the whole girliness aspect seriously, and tells people to be proud heroes. While it has jokes, it doesn't make jokes out of being girly, or fighting like that. Even tho its seinen, I think ppl could do worse than showing their kids this. So far at least, and with my limited knowledge.
Anyway! Thanks for scanlating as usual, and have a good week and week after that! I cant wait for the next, but as always I will. Im super grateful!
