@PrunJuice Not all education programs were created equally. An 80% in one could be equal to beyond 100% in another program. Another series I read takes place in a school where there's a general education program, an academics program focused on raising some of the best minds in the country, and a sports program focused on raising some of the best athletes in the country all in one school. Two of those programs are harsher than the other for their respective field, so you can hardly compare someone acing the general program to people doing well in the others.

This sort of thing doesn't seem terribly unlikely to be occurring in a lot of manga, because even the high schools have entrance exams. Some of them are going to be much harsher than others.
