Mad scientists aren't well known for thinking things through.
sure in the unintended consequences department (most people in general are shit at this, never mind regular scientists) but for mad scientists in specific everything is to further a goal... to us readers the goal has been made clear enough to infer... but the fuck is the intended function of re-sealing? it doesn't seem to further the goal at all!

It does though.

Because MC thought that the Octopus might probably be a creature similar to him (aka., a Human or some Animal turned to Monster).
Which is why he was planning to avoid eating any such creature in the future, because of the info he got from that Scientist. But as he would not remember that interaction, he won't avoid eating another specific creature in the future.

The whole scene was basically a exposition for use readers, while MC won't remember it later.

yea-no. your right in the sense of telling MC this info would prompt certain choices, but the message itself is pre-programmed. so this mad fucker needs to have anticipated a rejection response... in which case what purpose does leaving this message AND sealing the memory of it accomplish?:facepalm::facepalm:

Maybe "sealing the memory" part only activates under certain condition.
I mean, MC isn't the only Old Era Human who was turned into a Monster. We already had a Spider-like Human-Monster earlier who was also like MC.

So, its possible that everyone of those Human-Monsters have the same message implanted inside their head, and certain conditions are needed to activate them.

We know that the Recorded Memory only activated because MC ate one of the Monsters from the Three Projects.

So, its also possible that willing to follow the completion of the project might have triggered another memory, while thinking about not wanting to do it might trigger something else.

I am sure, if that Spider-like Human-Monster MC met before also achieved the same conditions, he would have accepted the mission and actively tried to hunt those Three Projects Monsters. So, its possible the Recorded Memory might not have been deleted in his case.

Boiled octopus and takoyaki are pretty good. I'd take it over calamari just about any day. That being said, our eyes feasted generously as well.
