'nothing over the top'
boon's face isn't over the top?
schools windows also must be really thin if a normal guy can just push someone through it (breaking it) that easily

spirit leaving the body is a visual gag in manga, people don't automatically ascend to heaven from it.
Also, he doesn't have a halo, and that pose at the end isn't really a ascending to heaven pose (normally, both legs face straight down) but more like a jumping pose, like he's so happy he is 'flying' his spirit jumped out of his body temporarily

boon's fatter in tsunbaka (possibly because bullies don't trash his lunch anymore) but he's not really tall. boon can also jump really high in tsunbaka.

tsunbaka only shows boon as tsun's caretaker after high school starts, so your 'since early age' claim doesn't exist. boon obviously stops being so gullible after the events of this manga.

the tone in tsunbaka is lighter, but tsun's disorder is actually pretty serious (grounded in reality)

I've already mentioned this earlier, but i'll repeat it: tsunbaka occurs in boon's second/third year of high school since boon classmate dokuo is student council president, so tsun either wasn't in his class this year, or boon transferred schools to tsun's school after this.

Greetings, sorry that I restarted this discussion months after the last reply, but I just want to say that in Tsunbaka it was clearly shown that Boon met Tsun early in their childhood, so this Boon is a different Boon altogether

That means something since in the same panel where they first met ( https://mangadex.org/chapter/237088/193 ) it stated that "What started out as an innocent crush before long turned into love"
Oh, and in the same page, lower panel, it's shown Boon and Tsun during their middle school, recognise they're wearing different uniform,

Meanwhile this Boon right here, according to https://mangadex.org/chapter/517066/18 , was just hurt from his first love and not long after ( https://mangadex.org/chapter/517066/20 ) had his next

I'm really sorry for my mistake, I somehow missed those pages in my Tsunbaka re-read.

Thank you for providing the links. You've proved me wrong. The stories aren't in the same verse.

(In my defense, I think there was a previous upload somewhere of Tsunbaka without those pages)

Oh? It's rare to see that I actually convinced someone over the internet, but to be fair the author really made it easy by giving so much details in their story,

On that topic, I don't think there's anything worth apologising for? Though I'm not sure, I'm not very well-versed in this 'common sense' people keep talking about, you're free to correct me on that

Thank you for the nice discussion

I feel like I should apologize if I haven't read a manga (or other works) carefully enough and and give incorrect information it. It's not really 'common sense' but my personal values.
some 'common sense' differ depending on the community/forum so you don't need to worry about it too much about it.

This was way more emotional as compared to the other one for me.

I'll be honest: What I'm truly interested in here is what's going on in Girl #2's head by the end of this. Like, obviously she was in on the bullying to some degree, but it's also pretty clear she was feeling something along the lines of guilt in the last few pages. Between the shadowed face, the way she flinches when he calls himself gross, and the way she clutches the bear to her chest once she starts getting distressed (she's even cradling it with two hands on pg. 29), she's not acting like someone who doesn't care (for contrast, the main bully just looks dismissive or angry in those scenes).
I can't help but wonder how much of this was her genuinely participating with the bullying, and how much of it is her actually enjoying spending time with Boon and just putting up a front with the bully. It really makes me wonder what kind of thoughts were running through her mind during each side of things, and how she's affected by it all after the fact. Like, even if she truly didn't think of Boon in any sort of positive light (which I doubt, as it really does look like she cared to some degree), she just saw two of her classmates fall to their death (presumably. We only see Boon ascend to the afterlife, but it's entirely possible the other guy didn't go up if you know what I mean) in a murder-suicide, and that's bound to fuck anyone up, even before factoring in that her betrayal was the straw the broke the camel's back.

Not for the first time, I find myself wishing I had the ability to summon fully finished, well written fan works into existence on a whim. What I wouldn't give for a character study story for this manga...
