looking forward at the possibility of a fansub for the movie. even if it's just a text document to accompany the movie it's something a person familiar with subtitle timing can work with

Man I’m just hoping the movie leads to anime adaptation. I want the golden age of ecchi to make a comeback

Why are gen 2 pokemon the worst when most of the new stuff is clearly much worse? Gen 2 had stuff like flaming porcupine and water alligator, how is that uncool?

Also the last few chapters have just been banal lesbianism or other shenanigans, when does this either get back to idol stuff or fighting stuff? The author has lost the punchline.

@anoman
actually this where the pendulum shifts and it becomes way more fighting focused. Heck there’s an entire volume where misora doesn’t even show her tits

@anoman Who knows?

I personally liked the flaming porcupine because it learns thunderpunch later which is great against the water alligator.
Gen 1 and Gen 2 were one of the earliest gens where the fire type starter was the better starter, well gen 2's alligator was the strongest in gen 2 overall to choose from for the early-mid game, but typhlosion is one not to be messed with for its speed and thunder fist xD

The rating is a joke. It is MUCH better that this. You do need to read past the first arc to see it though, but fuck 1/10 brigade.

Also it's not as trashy as I expected. It's still plenty trashy, but not THAT trashy. Not misery porn either.

Also the writing is much better than something like Deadtube which throws shocking shit at you with no regard for anything else, which gets old fast.

@anoman Rui-sensei has always been very clumsy about fanservice and SoL writing, especially between serious arcs. Therefore, those chapters that give the real development of the plot are in most cases the most weird. Not to mention, his love of yuri as a fetish is almost tantamount to the incestuous tendencies of author Oreimo and Eromanga, lol. He's clearly far from obsessed with yuri weirdo like Takahiro, but the next arc is poor on fanservice, so here he noticeably decided to have a good amount of fun.

@gladiatorua Hah, actually the first arc or the first volume are the most reasonably places in the manga. Subsequently, with each new volume, the author ceased to restrain himself in any way and we got a bunch of creepy smut and gore. Only the yuri baki arc was actually able to bring him back to reality. I won't say that this rating is 100% fair, but if you are not looking for pure entertainment for the sake of entertainment, then this can hardly rise above 7 or 7.5. In any case, I can confidently predict that the rating will increase markedly during the next arc.

@justjorge I don't know what awaits us after the yuri baki arc, but you can clearly see from it that pure action is much closer to Rui than over the top fanservice.

@SuperOniichan The first arc feels like it's going to go very rapey, "fall of the heroine" route and/or something like Deadtube where it's pure shock value and nothing else. I feel like this manga loses most people in the summary or first one or two chapters. Once you get over the dark premonition, it's a lot more readable, because it's not misery-porn and a lot less rapey than expected.
But it's much better and more fun that that. It's trashy AF, but I'd put it solidly into 8s. It's a cynical, satirical look at the, not so much dark but, weird grey side of Japanese entertainment industry with dark raisins thrown in. And the heroine is not too dumb or too naive. And it's about 20% battle manga
I dislike pacing in relatively recent translated chapters, because it's kinda teases you with plot, but shoves a lot more filler.

@gladiatorua Are we talking about the same manga? The first arc was undoubtedly full of toxic shit, but it was in the subsequent ones that such things as justifying abusive behavior by the fact that it was from another woman, the romanticization of various manipulations, and especially the increasing mental degradation of Misora to add it to an increasingly silly situation appeared. The first arc was weird, but in these chapters Misora always retained her honor and self-respect, and anyone against her was portrayed as a dangerous adversary, not a potential love interest. Not to mention, writing and using tropes in the first volumes was much better as Rui was still trying to hold back and the editors wouldn't let him have fun due to the manga's lack of its current weird reputation.

and a lot less rapey than expected -
Of course, even if MC has been raped by other women about 3 times at the time of the 40th chapters (and one of them was even completely idealized and later became her girlfriend), it still doesn't matter, because these are not men. Right?

And the heroine is not too dumb or too naive. - How many times has Misora been corrupted or get in nasty stuff because she acted like a 13 year old or underestimated the danger from other women, even when she fully embraced her bisexuality? She is literally a smut version of the typical shonen protagonist.

@SuperOniichan Maybe it's because I view it mostly as satire. Not serious, but sometimes it gets real. Double standard for somewhat abusive women is a thing. Fix that and later pacing issues, which mostly come down to lack of a goal, unlike earlier chapters, and I would've given it close to 10.
Thing is, there are no men around Misora that are in her strikezone and not utterly creeptastic. A lot more grey area among women. Yuri tag kinda fits very well here.
Just fucking start the tournament arc already.

By rape I meant straight up, not borderline, which is like hentai version of consent.

And by manga standards she isn't too naive. Slightly below average. She started out as a gravure model FFS, so not too corrupted. She is moderately slutty from the get go. I was more annoyed by her encounters with creepy ugly bastards.

@gladiatorua So if the main character's abusers turn into hot chicks, then it ceases to be a creepy rapey manga, even if, unlike the ugly bastards, their harassment was successful and was justified by the author? It's just a "hentai level" of consent, so it's fine. Why didn’t you say right away that if a person is being molested or even raped with the help of blackmail, gaslighting or other manipulation, and not outright use of violence, then this is no longer "straight up rape". That changes a lot, man!

@SuperOniichan Akira is nowhere near the same level most other "encounters". The blackmail was scummy. Sarah is... Sarah. Again, satire. Taking it entirely on the face value is...

@gladiatorua Seriously dude? You keep trying to convince me that using cunning in harassment and rape makes it less rapey and kinda justifies it? Do you think the word satire is a universal excuse for any grotesque dark shit?

@SuperOniichan Maybe I'm reading it differently. Their first time Akira is definitely overly pushy, but it cuts away and not really stated, so there are only implications. I think you reading them too much a certain way.

@gladiatorua Overly pushy? She's literally the female version of a shoujo bastard boyfriend. And this cuts away only when she gets her way and Misora stops fighting sexual addiction to her, deciding that "this is love". Do I really need to explain how many toxic messages this gives?

@SuperOniichan I'm not sure it's going to go full "this is love" route. I'm not entirely sure it's toxic YET. It is probably unhealthy.
For now Misora is horny and Akira is easy. For now it's "love", but I doubt it's going to last. Hard to say because there is no in-universe normal to compare it to.
Misora is in top-3 sanest individuals in this manga and that's a problem.

@gladiatorua Dude, seriously. Nobody asks you to sprinkle ashes on your head and say "this is bad" every time, even if there is obvious shit going on in the chapter. I myself love how insane this title is. But justifying it, you seem to be saying "yep, that's okay. I'll do the same with other girls in real life." It's creepy. For the rest, I agree, at least for the moment this is mainly a relationship between a great libido and a wonderful lover, this is clearly get something bad in the end. If Rui has enough eggs for deep development, of course.
