Man I feel bad for Money Grubber. He was perfectly amicable, just wanting to show off a different possible path and the fruits of his labor, while not discrediting others. Hell, he even said he was fine with others surpassing him at this new field, he just wanted credit for pioneering it. But now he's feeling pressured and will probably make a stupid decision. Kururi should've held onto that sword until a while after Money Grubber unveiled his.

"It's been a while since we've been together."
Doesn't feel like it. Not the two characters I want to hear that line between.

What he calls "outdated concepts" is just using weapons as weapons.

The step from "dirty store" to "aristocrat" is quite a bit.

At least he's honest about what he makes isn't the highest quality, and not offended that someone would prefer that.

As usual, the sword looks nice, but the guard is too chonky. The oval handle is nice, though.

If the sword falls apart just by swinging is, the mana puts some serious strain on it. But on the other hand, the guard on that sword looks great, and I like the multiple fullers.

An iron that conducts magic well, but also rusts easily isn't something I've seen in an isekai before.

Big surprise there. He made an OP sword.

I forgot. Was it revealed the old bath man was the guy on the fancy chair, or did we all just assume that?

@asphyxiav2 I'd argue that you aren't getting much better because you already do so well. Improvements come incrementally smaller when you're already good at something. The only thing I could suggest now is working on breaking words by syllables when you need to split them, like with page 8 with "embarassed", where you had the "-d" on a separate line instead of "-ed".

Indeed, I was thinking the same thing.

It’s not like Kururi is competing with Money Grubber. So him doing that comes of as showing off, no matter what Kururi’s intention actually is, and what he did was pretty much was raining on Money Grubber’s parade, so to say.

Also, it’s not like Kururi is dense, he knows the quality of the sword he showed to Money Grubber. And yet, he is still being unreasonably “modest”. And unfortunately excessive modesty can end up being insulting….

Even more so because MC just gave one of the swords to test to an outside person, so people may think he invented it, eventually robbing Money Grubber of his lives' goal of being known for inventing that type of sword. Really insensitive and stupid, imo

Money Grubber knew what he was doing. He's an old pro already. In fact one might say he knows better than others what he's doing since he needed to become an ace blacksmith without having the ultimate talent for it, unlike the other top ten ones. This very thing might have actually been what he was really hoping for. He's being blamed for thinking about nothing but money, catering to the needs of rich clientele who don't care about functionality as much as they want glorious, expensive looks. But is that really enough for him, especially now that he's growing older? Clearly not, otherwise he wouldn't want to be remembered as the blacksmith who introduced the first magic sword. So, why did he invite Kururi there and indeed push Kururi forward to try the same? Perhaps Money Grubber actually had encountered an obstacle in his methods to develop the magic sword and he wanted Kururi to instantly show the correct way. This would show he's still a real blacksmith, a real artisan, and not just a vain person. He wants to witness the peak of the mountain before he dies.

But then again, this story is what it is. I couldn't understand what was going through Kururi's head in this chapter.

I think there’s still room for a negotiation between the two. Kururi would surely accept having to pay a royalty and giving attribution.
Yeah, I mean he already showed that he wanted to support MG in his dream, so I hope this ends up going positively, rather than MG trying to sabotage Kururi.

or kukuri can give credit and patent right to money grubber as the one who discovered those technique and the one teaching him those secret. money grubber is not bad, he know he has lowest talent amongst those blacksmith so he choose quantity over quality. plus with business booming, those money can be spent on researching new method as material is not cheap.
