What really gets me is, the speech bubbles are all so whimsical and chaotic but - there's no overcrowding, the way speech is broken up feels natural, it's all spaced in a way that doesn't feel transplanted. Am I overthinking this?
To a translator, this is very high praise. I appreciate you sharing this, and I don't believe you are overthinking this at all.
I imagine you also read other manga on Mangadex, yes?
-A lot of the translations posted on this site are done very quickly, usually under 24 hours.
-Many of the English translations are done by people who's first or even second language is not English.
-Still more depend entirely on machine translation, and simply adjust the output to "sound right."
-Some translations are all of these things at once.
I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I think what you're noticing is the difference a translation with some effort put in can make.
