I see where this is going, the prince is gonna try to force her to become a concubine isn't he ?
Oh that would be great fun. Angie wouldn't take it lying down to begin with, and on top of that Bel might be a pretty soft-spoken guy but I expect someone trying to forcibly marry his daughter would really bring out the "Red Ogre"

Having read the LN... Well, this whole party involves the prince and there are forces in the dark trying to gauge and understand Angie's power and strength... with the mage in the dungeon playing a key role. Suffice to say, the Red Ogre will have to start looking into his pals, past, and more.

I once again puzzled by japanese writers wierd approach to nobility. Their prime ministers as well as other various position of power are occupied by descendants of noble clans. This shouldn't be such an exotics to them.

It is absolutely an exotic to them; consider this analogy from a capitalist view if you can't imagine aristocracy: A Billionaire invites a poor/uneducated Boxing Champ to his party to celebrate winning the undisputed unified title.
Mike Tyson was a prime example of a dude who didn't even finish school and went to all the parties during his heydays. He was a spectacle to everyone and feared what he can do inside and outside the boxing ring with his capacity for violence. But beyond that? People thought he was stupid and a barely contained violent beast with no elegance.
Dude loved animals and only got into boxing because the bullies killed his birds.
The Rich and Powerful always ponder how the lowest rungs of society can climb the ladder. Either in fear of it, amusement, or curiosity; rarely do they care unless it adds more power to themselves.

Japan is unique country where bourgeois revolution was conducted from the top and such even more rudiments of old system remained then even in european kingdoms of our days. If anything, Japanese should understand feudal class society better then us. Except almost all mangakas are fixated on appearance only.

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind if she pulls a Carrie, honestly.

ugh, when will we move on from all the nobles and their bullshit? I'm so tired of them, every last one, and their nonsense. This whole subplot and its parade of endlessly irritating cunts is solely dependent on the fact that Angie is only 1% as irritable and pugnacious as someone her age and strength would be. It's worn really thin long ago and should be resolved asap.
Honestly, this is probably how it would go if you’re an S-Rank adventurer, but still beholden to a kingdom. Unless you have power to destroy said kingdom, or willing to go on the run for killing most of it‘s leaders, it’s more beneficial to suck it up, and reap the benefits.

I agree, but that's rational cool-headed thinking. I expect that from an adult or from an adolescent with an incredible amount of self-restraint. I don't expect that from the average teenager, especially not one with the ability to force their way in most situations before this, and their nerves frayed from walking on eggshells for an extended period. Any other teenage walking tactical nuke, would've caused some form of incident due to an emotional outburst, and generally table-flipped this whole dog and pony show.

True, but this isn’t a typical modern day teenager. This is one who’s been an adventurer since she was 10, endured life and death battles regularly, and was trained by the Red Ogre himself… :meguusmug:

Point is, you’re not dealing with your average teenage warrior… but an S-Class who’s learned the value of self control and patience. That will run out the moment they try some bullshit.

Dude seems rather reasonable to me, so probably not. What's more likely is that she might save his ass later, because there's no way the story spending this much time on the event without some impending major shit hitting the fan.

and I'd bet he is strong as well... he did just basically sweep her off her unwilling feet.

I was typing a big ol' essay in response, but I got tired midway since I don't feel like explaining every little thing out in detail so to summarize: A. people haven't changed much compared to 1k years ago and teenagers gonna teenager due to simple biology, and B. the author is leaning too hard on Angie being a perfect little docile snowflake for this subplot to the point is doesn't make sense for other people to act like this. :wowee:

...is it just me or did the artist crank their care for drawing Angie incredibly beautiful by like three echelons?

I appreciate the restraint! I’ll (try) to keep it short too.

A: Biology doesn’t mean much when you’re married, supporting two kids, an ailing wife, and doing backbreaking work.

Also considering how biology has definitely changed as we’re not typically dying in our 30’s and 40’s, you learn to grow up quick, or die to your medically deficient and dangerous environment.

B: Keeping to the European nature of the series and leaving out the slightly more advanced Eastern and Islamic locations, the land is ruled by a monarchy. Which means even a powerful adventurer like Ange receiving praise is still beholden to the overwhelming power and influence that they hold.

If she was irresponsible enough to ignore that, she wouldn’t have went in the first place. As the series mentioned, she’s there to be a good face for the guild, and the benefits associated with that.

To put it plainly, Ange isn’t a typical teenager. She’s an adult in that land, and has been through enough experiences to know when to act like it. She’s not going to ruin the goodwill she’s trying to establish because nobles are rude and ignorant.
