Haven't read the oneshot so have some expectations from this.

I disagree with her ideology though, since the first chapter obviously didn't set the right tone for it (being that kinda world). We don't even know yet what kinda world they live in. For all we know, a batshit crazy girl just came to a normal school and started beating people up. (Unless that's exactly what they're going for, just random violence, lol)

To make you understand with what I mean, if this was a fighting manhwa, I obviously wouldn't mind, since I would just assume it's a world filled with gangs and runs on violence.

This being a Manga means she'll probably get beaten up by some random blonde girl within the next ten chapters. And I'm being generous. Chances are it happens sooner than that.

What a retooling from the oneshot! I didn't think it was the greatest thing in the world, but it was definitely more intresting than this, and I was looking forward to seeing how that story continued, so I'm disappointed. Noteably, this series now feels much closer to Nadainishi's previous, cancelled work: The Killing Way, just with the ultraskilled fighter lead being female. I actually really enjoyed that work (such a shame what happened to it), but the differences make me less hopeful about this. (High school setting; less compelling MCs, etc·.) Huh. Well, we'll see how things go.
The core of the problem lies in the disconnect between the expectation that was set and what was actually delivered. The artist stated that the one-shot would be serialized, leading fans to believe we’d get a continuation or expansion of the original story. Instead, we ended up with something entirely different, retaining only the name of the MC and the designs of the main characters while abandoning the unique premise that made the one-shot so compelling.

If the artist had been upfront from the start about taking the story in a completely new direction, that would be one thing. But that’s not what happened. The way it was presented created the impression that we were getting a faithful serialization of the one-shot, not a full rewrite into a generic high school setting. That’s why this feels so disappointing—because what was promised and what we received are two entirely different things. It’s not about being open-minded; it’s about the fact that the shift in direction wasn’t communicated honestly, leading to a sense of being misled.
I agree with this to an extent, but it's framed in a way that's strange to me. Serieses get retooled and reimagined from their pilot versions frequently. Coming out and explicitly saying that the final product is significantly different from the original, while it still matters, isn't done even in the West, much less Japan. Could the artist (and author) have said something like “It's a bit different, but please still enjoy!”? Sure, and it's to their discredit that they didn't, but I just think your framing is too extreme.

I was not expecting much after that oneshot but this is so underwhelming. I hope the artist works on something at least as good as Satsudou one day.

I'm sure the r*pe fantasy scene was very necessary, that said what a disappointment, the one shot had a super unique premise and they just turned it into high school setting slop

real shame that the original premise of the one-shot was abandoned for the (likely editor/publisher forced) school setting but if it stays in a similar vibe, and is as enjoyably unhinged as Kakegurui, I will be there

As a fun cope u could imagine that this is a "prequel" to the events of the one-shot given the characters are same design and name
Honestly? I feel like that’s the least frustrating way to view it.

This premise is still garbage compared to the original one shot, but hey maybe the author can somehow fire up the creative juices necessary to make a story about Corrupt Kenichi & Evil Miu work

Thank you for translating for putting in the time to get this done

@nakimov There is a missing page in this chapter:

Completely unrelated ... I've noticed a singular out of place pixel in the missing page ...

If you did any boxing or kickboxing these kind of manga are so cringe when they don't include a fantasy tag.
Lets see the 100 lbs dainty girl beat up high school boys like physics don't exist.:lul:

My disappointment with this is immeasurable.

For those unfamiliar, this started with a one-shot called Koroshi to Uso no Marriage, released on April 27, 2024. It was a police-crime romance thriller packed with action and violence. If you haven't read it, go check it out—it's amazing. Initially, if I remember correctly, the artist announced that it would be serialized around November 2024, but it ended up being "delayed."

However, as you can see, the premise and story of the one-shot were completely abandoned. Instead, the serialized version was rewritten into a generic high school setting, retaining only the MC's name and design, the FMC’s design, and the action/violence. What a letdown. This is basically Kakegurui, but with gambling replaced by action, violence, and sex.

I genuinely cannot comprehend why they would throw away such an interesting premise for something so uninspired. The one-shot had so much potential… Seeing it reduced to a cliché-ridden high school setting is a disheartening change. What a colossal waste of potential.

Thanks for the chapter!
that's good to know. but yeah rip. I really wish someone would start a spin-off based on the original one shot at this point lol

Wow this shit is edgy and the philosophy of the main girl is really dumb. I imagine it wont ever get challenged either(just of the vibes this manga gives) so i dont think ill continue reading.
Maybe itll prove me wrong but i will not stick around to find out.

I went and checked out the oneshot and while it was unique, it just wasn't my cup of tea. I much prefer this technical hand to hand setting over pure gore. I also really enjoyed Satsudou by the same artist which is sadly discontinued due to the writer offing himself. So this is a nice substitute to fill that void.
