Lol, did this guy adopt a kid thinking it will be fulfilling for him, found out that raising a kid is boring, but they're both fine with it since he buys her extra donuts whenever she asks?

I get it, he's weirdo but who cares, could be worse, it's a sweet deal.

But he's not very bright is he? Why did he stop being a mercenary then? Plenty of occasions to find himself with his life flashing before his eyes and wanting another moment on the battlefield. Going around Japan beating up randos is not the first thing that I think would get my blood pumping.

At least, I get that he's set up to like our MC. The fact that he's weak guarantees he's always engaged in his fights and fully aware he very well might die if he doesn't pull a miracle

Pro athletes really are the jobbers in this manga...
Yeah, it’s unfortunate because it basically means if there’s a pro athlete fighting on the screen, they’re essentially guaranteed to lose in humiliating fashion at this point unless something changes.

I already told people not to think deep with this manga a few chapters ago since logic doesn't apply to this anymore. With that said, I still find it entertaining (a bit of realism with a bullshittery invloved), especially with Rikudou involved, but I would really love if it adapted the one-shot premise.
Now that you mention it, why wasn’t the one shot premise adapted? If I remember correctly, people actually liked that, and it legitimately had potential.

Is it weird that I’m still trying to understand why the karate guy wasn’t added to this tournament? Maybe I’m just being biased towards side characters, but I feel like he could’ve been this manga’s Rihito. Feels like a waste

Sure, because as we all know, a strike without killing intend never actually killed anyone by accident before. And a brain without fear of death can apparently not get concussed in this world either...
At least we can laugh together about how ironic it is someone can clearly have so much knowledge on martial arts while at the same time having a hilariously perspective on how to execute those martial arts in a story😂
