Yep... He's stuck in a cycle of staged violence and the problem is he is always the cornered rabbit. Fighting to survive another day, any means, anything, soon he may be desensetized to it all.

In fairness it was a situation where either he wins easily or he loses badly. And his choices were legitimately smart, whereas his opponent was used to one-sided battles and fumbled an easy W.
My issue with it is the manga spent a whole two chapters glazing the bad guy and putting the mc into a heavily disadvantaged situation.

The fact that he fell three stories just before this is completely irrevelant is annoying. The fact that the bad guy is an amateur wrestler whereas the MC (to the best of our knowledge) had zero wrestling training except explicitly from this chapter is annoying. The fact that the bad guy went down in one punch (the chapter even said the knee strikes were superficial damage) despite having a big build is infuriating.

My issue is that the manga wants to create hard scenarios for the main characters to fight in but it doesn't put in the work to make the victories they gain seem earned.

MIIIUUUUU!!!!!!! Idk why I thought Akita was gonna do a Canadian Destroyer :dogkek: I kinda expected Miu to teach him how to do a cool ouch level wrestling move.

She'll tank the elbow, then she'll tank a few more, then she'll lift him while he goes "masaka?!?" before getting slammed on the head. Meanwhile the narrator will calmly explain to you that pushing someone back to the cage (or a wall) counters the sprawl.
If you thought you could dodge another serving of the (JAPANESE) PRO-WRESTLERS ARE TOUGH trope in a fighting manga, you're dreaming.
Hell she'll probably even flex and say the thing herself while bleeding profusely from the forehead, with the guy lying unconscious on the floor.

The knees weren't superficial damage. They were heavy knees to the head. The bleeding was superficial damage.

I think the bigger factor that bothers me is that while the Muay Thai brother has learned wrestling defence from sparring with his little bro the little bro didn't know a thing about striking defence. If the striking portion was a bit harder it would have made the fight feel better I think.
