I don't even think that, I think it would be unexpected but it just means that we now have to introduce a whole new villain as we climb the top 10.

Someone remind me of the tournament rules. Gramps did lose to our MC before but he is still in, rather high ranked too? What needs to happen for someone to be actually out?

That being said, it'd be fun if Gramps just won here.

iirc the only way to be actually eliminated is to die (or maybe it's possible to quit, but you might have to at least leave the city until the tournament's over to make sure no one tries to fight you anyway). losing a fight only impacts your ranking.

It wouldn't be wasted, Watanabe is a skilled and high ranking fighter. It's not like it'll ruin the villain. Besides the MC still has to fight the villain regardless cause no elimination rules.

First of all there's already a lingering villain in the series that we haven't seen in like +10 chapters with the Loli. Probably Rank 1 or top 3. Second why would we introduce a new villain. It won't change the story. MC is still gonna fight the guy regardless.

2nd I assume hopefully it's not a one sided fight. Again it's two top rank fighters. This isn't knife kid fighting the villain. Ideally it's not out of the realm to believe a rank 8 can beat a rank 4.

Grimmjow was never the main villain, he was always Aizen's underling. Madara was introduced by doing that to Obito too and didn't even lose to anyone except the MC.

Kira is a completely different type of bad guy, he was a serial killer that needed to be stopped, not a competitor that needed to be defeated.
