I don’t understand why the kid would rather commit suicide then just run away to Tokyo. The only thing I can think of that’s holding him back is his sense of responsibility of supporting his mom. Regardless of if he runs away or commits suicide his mother is going to have to deal with all the house issues on her own. He hates her too so idgi. Maybe he doesn’t wanna live with the guilt?
