Damn, this is so polarizing.

Our wishes as a viewer to ship the characters, contradicts what is best for the character in story.

She really is better off leaving music if it causes her that much stress and grief.

But that would mean the yuri "ship" may not sail as a price.

I have no idea how the author will resolve this dilemma in a satisfying way.

Hopefully it is done well and not with a sudden convenient plot device.

That's fair, her emotional self-harm is rough to watch.

The present her is obviously purposely trying to hurt herself and those she likes as much as possible.

Someone like this should be in therapy as soon as possible, not looking for a partner.

This manga is GL. Period. There are other (girls) couples than the main one later and it's not because one of the MC "dared" going out with a boy that she won't fall for a girl at some later point. If you look at all the illustrations of this manga online, you'll see it's clearly Yuri.

She's just going through segments of her life as expected of her, knowing exactly what's ending and coming next, while vaguely hoping for an off ramp or meteor to materialize. That's depressing.

She didn't intend on playing in the brass band in her new school but she is anyway because her parents thought it was an easy first chair and wouldn't interfere with her entrance exams. They didn't factor in the MC energy coming from her only competition.

I hope you all continue this manga. It's so well received elsewhere and with it being such a long and continuing manga, it would be a shame not to have it TL'd and shared to others. So, just wanted to share some support. It's a slight simplification but: at least in some western forums, basically any manga that deals with subtly or is about more than just "getting girls to kiss" results in nonsense, and "I don't get it's," so I don't envy your position.

Personal opinion, not really fond of "I'm an asshole, but I have sad story. I'll do anything in asshole way to get the affection" story. Welp, this kind of story are very popular that it's getting boring. Another example ... villain.

Not sure why people are stressed out. We're just five chapters in. There's 100+ chapters of a well received manga to look forward to. It won (checking list...) 19th out of 5000 or so nominated in that Next Manga Awards thing that just happened and the Japanese audience likes it. It might not be your cup of tea, but it doesn't seem to be worth complaining about since there really isn't many unknowns here. There's plenty of future plot to snoop around in or read a synopsis of and if it still doesn't look like it's for you... you can just drop it. Nobody is being kept hostage here.

Like, I hope Aikawa just gives up. It's a toxic trait among every family (and culture) to just dictate a kid's life, especially when the parents are good at something (Music in this case), even if the child doesn't want to

BUT

If staying with Katagiri means, to her, that she'll continue with music, even if her "love" of it is dictated by what everyone else wants of her.

I feel like it mirrors her relationship with the two "other" leads. I might be reading too hard into this, but it feels like she's dating the guy "Because everyone is dating a guy," but at the same time he represents a life without music. Meanwhile Katagiri is her "true desire" (If true), but at the same time, music

Or maybe, I should start reading Shounen manga
