Maybe it's just because it feels sort of like a fusion between Revenge of the Soul Eater and Chivalry of a Failed Knight, two series that I highly enjoyed, but I have a good feeling about this one going forward. The pacing is already better than the (unfortunately cancelled) manga for Soul Eater, and because we started with his struggles from so early on, the MC felt a bit easier to connect with than with Kurogane, so my hopes are actually quite high for this one. The author has me a bit worried since they don't have a good track record of taking care of their main characters' traumatic pasts in any way besides 'I'm strong now so I don't care', but I won't let that stop me from giving this a chance.
