Cripple elf is too happy right now she's definitely dying
Good riddance. She always accompanies everyone, however the only thing she was ever good for was being bait, her bow merely more than decoration. Her staying to train others to be equally useless with a bow would have been perfectly fine.
Despite being introduced recently the sage's disciple has already been five times more useful, let alone the princess.

Dividing everything purely into results like this, you sound like a hero.

They are fighting against superhumans, they could die at every turn, as many already have, and if in that situation you decide(!) to stand at the front lines you are either useful or you are a liability that could get your comrades or others killed.
She is already responsible for allowing Kamiyama's and Yamashita's escape by standing around twiddling her thumbs in chapter 21 and everyone that dies as a result.

She is not intentionally failing to get results and she's plenty competent, literally the only reason why she hasn't murked several heroes on her own by now is because the author wouldn't allow his limited stock of heroes to simply get one-tapped by her at the start of a mini arc anticlimactically. She's competent, but not enough to overcome whatever bullshit the author comes up with to counter it.

If the author doesn't allow her to achieve any results that means that by definition she is incompetent.

There's such a thing as a reasonable level of expectance. If you want her to be 'competent' enough to LITERALLY OVERCOME GOD HIMSELF WHO CONTROLS ALL REALITY AT THE STROKE OF A PEN AND FLICK OF A BRUSH, that is not a reasonable level of expectation to have.

First, you aren't doing anything to counter my argument here, admitting that she is useless in combat, because the author wills it so.
Second, she was literally standing around in an elevated position while two heroes were running away in a straight line. Could I have expected her in that situation as an experienced archer to grab an arrow, shoot it (and possibly miss for whatever made up reason)? Hell yes.
P.s. Third, "It's written that way" is never a good argument to justify in-universe behavior. "The characters are idiots, because they are written that way" doesn't justify their behavior and leaves no room for discussion. So she's useless because she was written to be useless. Okay, so what does that change about her having been useless so far?

It's on the author, not her. That's the point I'm making.

She is competent enough from a skill perspective to manage the task, so the author has to invent poorly justified reasons for her to not be successful this time, each time, so she doesn't end the chapter early. Not incompetent, forces outside of her control. The ultimate force. It is quite literally on the author because he could have made her less competent and had that simply be the reason, but he chose this path instead.

I really wish you would stop with the mental gymnastics and engage with what I am writing.

I am aware of the point you are trying to make and it's a stupid point for the reasons written above. When an archer let's people run away in a straight line from an elevated position without even trying to fire an arrow at them, she is incompetent. I have given a very clear and concrete example for blatant incompetence. (Funny thing: if you go back to the cited chapter 21, you'll even see me writing that she's standing around for the sake of the plot, so I am agreeing that it's the author's actions at play, I'm just saying it's the author making her incompetent without them realizing this.) You have done nothing but say "She is competent, but the author doesn't let her achieve results." That is meaningless. Prove her competence (as an archer! Not "Shoving her own leg at Sasaki saved the MC", anyone could have done that, it has nothing to do with her specific skillset).

I came here to joke about the author’s cleverness with the prosthetic leg and how she’ll have a leg up on the competition, but holy hell I wasn’t expecting a war of words!
