I came here to joke about the author’s cleverness with the prosthetic leg and how she’ll have a leg up on the competition, but holy hell I wasn’t expecting a war of words!

Yeah nah, I can't be bothered any more. If anyone else wants to try, feel free.

Understandable. I wasn’t expecting any more responses from anyone tbh. It was just a wild ride to read. Thanks for trying to get the point across though. I definitely understood what you were saying.

They are fighting against superhumans, they could die at every turn, as many already have, and if in that situation you decide(!) to stand at the front lines you are either useful or you are a liability that could get your comrades or others killed.
She is already responsible for allowing Kamiyama's and Yamashita's escape by standing around twiddling her thumbs in chapter 21 and everyone that dies as a result.
First, you aren't doing anything to counter my argument here, admitting that she is useless in combat, because the author wills it so.
Second, she was literally standing around in an elevated position while two heroes were running away in a straight line. Could I have expected her in that situation as an experienced archer to grab an arrow, shoot it (and possibly miss for whatever made up reason)? Hell yes.
P.s. Third, "It's written that way" is never a good argument to justify in-universe behavior. "The characters are idiots, because they are written that way" doesn't justify their behavior and leaves no room for discussion. So she's useless because she was written to be useless. Okay, so what does that change about her having been useless so far?
I really wish you would stop with the mental gymnastics and engage with what I am writing.

I am aware of the point you are trying to make and it's a stupid point for the reasons written above. When an archer let's people run away in a straight line from an elevated position without even trying to fire an arrow at them, she is incompetent. I have given a very clear and concrete example for blatant incompetence. (Funny thing: if you go back to the cited chapter 21, you'll even see me writing that she's standing around for the sake of the plot, so I am agreeing that it's the author's actions at play, I'm just saying it's the author making her incompetent without them realizing this.) You have done nothing but say "She is competent, but the author doesn't let her achieve results." That is meaningless. Prove her competence (as an archer! Not "Shoving her own leg at Sasaki saved the MC", anyone could have done that, it has nothing to do with her specific skillset).
Based on this, you neglected her crucial role on every fight they have. It's like, just for 1 or 2 mistakes, all her help and good deeds during the journey are ignored. I highly like to avoid people that have mentality like you, the same mentality like those trash heroes. Easily abandoning people as they like if they're seen to be incompetent (Same mindset like Yasuda, you can be BFF with him for all I care).

She helped to assist and divert Mitsuya's attention during the fight in chaper 11-12, if she's not there, MC can't throw the poison powder on him. Many times she helped the party as a scout using her elf sharp hearing. She have a quick response, if she didn't notice Hoshi's quick charge, MC already dead long time ago, chapter 15-16. She also assist during the fight against Miyaichi, not just standing around. She able to continue to fight despite almost got raped by Uchida, and she manage to defeat Tomoto despite all her injuries (of course all thanks to MC's strategies). But if she lose or not there, MC can't handle Uchida and Tomoto alone, that's why her role is crucial. It took a lot of courage to took off her leg, showing that she have courage, guts, and determination no matter the situation is.

I won't argue on Kamiyama and Yamashita escape (it's not her to blame or fault in the first place), because it needed on plot progression (again, i won't argue on this as you already did with the guy above). You can whining all you want calling her incompetent, just like Yasuda did.
