So any guesses on what happened to the dad? From how Fumi views her clients, and really men in general, I doubt prostitution is something she does except out of necessity to provide for her and Souta so I'm going to rule her meeting his dad via that out. I'm assuming he either died or left her and Souta sometime while he was really young and left them saddled with plenty of debt.
Because both her and her son seem to be lacking in sources of warm comfort which is why she seems to obsess over him (while also managing to be somewhat neglectful though I feel this is partly due to the fact that she views herself as "stained" which is why she always seems to question if he's happy or if its ok whenever she makes physical contact with her kid) and he has to turn to "buying a woman" just to get that affection he's starved of.

yeah it's just as i feared. she's resigned to her fate but little moments like that and then getting your hopes crushed again and again. take Souta out of the picture and i'm sure she'd jump off a roof since there'd be no point to her life anymore. any suspicions of whether or not she actually liked her job are gone. she hates it, men and money.

if i were to guess, she probably got pregnant in high school, guy that got her pregnant ran off and her parents disowned her. since she probably dropped out of high school she can't get any good jobs so she had no choice but to rely on her looks despite absolutely hating it. i'm sure she really does love her son, but is letting her scarred emotions get the better of her.

I kind of understand the mother now. Could it be the father was like this? And now she views all men to be the same. She doesn't want her boy to be like that but the way she's raising him.... it feels suffocating, honestly 🙁.

Before only one guy did some summaries on LoveHaven raws and I was wondering if his using of "Spring" for MC/Haru wouldn't be good for your translation also. I mean it's nice play on title and story + has nice ring to it. When Haru is quite common and easy to mix with or others.

I feel bad, Souta’s mom is going to be gutted when she find out what her son has been up to.
It’s sad because she is only dealing with men who fool around behind their families back and she prob sees Souta as the only “clean” or “innocent” male in her life. We still don’t have info on Souta’s father and how he treated her. He could have been just as Her customers.

@Ninja No complaint from my side. Every pot has a cap. Some are into milfs. But i rather thought she was just some street prostitute - hence the low income / living conditions. But getting presents like this means she has a client base she is available to and she can "negotiates her price". Well still it is a small town? So the base might be not that big after all. This style of living will end rather sooner than later; then what? She clearly has reasons for what she does. But if it ain't that lucrative (living conditions) why not having a normal job and avoid the social ostracizing. She clearly is in this job for something, if she would hate it that much, she would have done a "normal life"? In the end Idk. But her character is way of, putting the emotional oddities aside.
