There's pretty good odds that we're gonna see Souta's mom "working with" Haru's stepfather pretty soon.
Haru's gonna snap and say "You're cheating on my mom with this old hag?" And he'll just casually respond, "Cheating? Don't make me laugh, she's just a prostitute."

Yes! Been waiting for this one. People complaining about Haru don't really see that she's acting normally so as to not put off Souta. The moment she acknowledges that he's poor to him is the moment Souta changes and probably starts avoiding her out of embarrassment and shame (as that seems to be Souta's character). Also, Haru's still 'charging' him for things because she understands it's a source of pride for him. He's working hard to earn this pittance of cash in order to spend any amount of time with her, and he looks so accomplished and happy when he's able to afford anything. The moment she stops 'charging' is the moment she takes that away from him. What else can you freaking buy in Japan for 24 yen?

@WhisCalifa69 Yeah you're right, I've seen a lot of mangas that portrays kids from poor families or kids that have only one parent being bullied, like its wrong to be poor or to be raised by a single mother/father. That aspect of japanese culture is really disgusting

@Tamerlane I don't have a problem with the MC being dense. If I did, I'd make a big deal out of it like usual, but I usually have problems with people that have toxic personalities that can hurt people with no regard. That's why I have a problem with "bitchy" and abusive characters.
It is unfair to say: "that these characters are just cliched archetypes". I do agree with that, but there are more personalities than just dense MC and bossy FMC, and it's really hard not to see this as anything but a cliched premise. I do see the subtle character development, but it's so slow, it might aswell be invisible and having read a LOT of other manga, I'm afraid that this will be so slow that the author might forget the intentions of his own character development. Many times have I seen manga begin to change a characters personality, only for nothing to have really happened.
Manhwa and Webtoons, without a shadow of a doubt, do have their own problems, but they are free from the shackles of typical Japanese manga cliches, that authors seem to feel inclined to include. I am more forgiving with Korea's own cliches than the Japanese ones, since they make more sense to me.
I'll give Suicide Boy a read.

If that happens, it will become Yuri's field day if she's still unaware of the reasons why Souta dumped her amidst of their date. Souta will go back to her asking for forgiveness, Yuri will pamper him just like in that date at the park and if she catches Souta in a new personal low, she will be the first who will claim his 2 virginities.

Worse of all, while Yuri finds MC's embarassment and shame cute and endearing (go bak 2 ch. 14), Haru finds that side of him unmanly and annoying.

Btw, Haru's stepdaddy being a stock broker my ass, his attitude and his bad blood with his stepchild smells like his profession is being a yakuza boss or a druglord. If he messes up with Fumi, then MC's chances at scoring with FMC will be all fucked over.

@XNovalX while MC is dense due to circumstances, he is a bit hypersensitive about double intentions. At gut level, he knows something is wrong with people who approach to him (such as Matoba, Yuri and Fumi) and eithers gets unsettled and anxious (when Yuri and Mom show some affection to him, he gets sweaty and frightened) or annoyed (Matoba taunting him on Ch. 1, classmates making fun of his poverty on several chapters). What he lacks is more guts to face people instead of making void death stares or bowing his head on shame.

Same for Haru, she's also kind of hypersensitive about her surroundings and people who ogle at her. This chapter also exposes her insecurities and self esteem issues about her name, but holy shit, being pissed bc your name sound like an idol artistic name is a bit petty of a reason to be pissed and ashamed.

Also, when it comes to the translation, we see it as more of an interpretation so it flows better, so we try to convey the message even if we stray a bit from the literal translation

This also interesting, because it's quite deeply set in history and social life of each country. Like Japan is very conservative so when something finally becomes milestone everyone reads it, later takes is as example to study and finally uses similar devices in own work. So it creates this quite close circle and editors/ magazines pushing own strict rules aren't helping- so getting/ putting something outside of mainstream is hard. Would agree on Manhwa as they problems mostly aren't connected to over use of plot devices (more of pacing and story handling in my mind) and for comparison in Manhua it is a lot worse (unless we speak something made outside of China and censorship).
Also I think this Manga may end on about 30-50 chapters and my opinion for now is that if no necessary time skip will happen then story will be handled correctly at least and same goes for characters developments.

Would say Spring/ Haru is mixed blood, because of hair and her height (she is really tall even above her Mom in heels when she herself haves flat shoes) so I hope it won't go that way :S.

Believe me, he won't get the chance to let his lust overpower him. This bizarro world he's living in can't stop shitting on him long enough for him to build up the nerve. The "Next time on Dragon Ball Z" text on the last page is just a misdirect. Souta doesn't directly do anything in this story. The plot just keeps occurring around him. The only time he exercised free will was when he ditched Yuri on their date.

@GuitarLegend sure it felt like crashing on a highway at >120 km/h when a couple you ship the most gets sunken hard because of the "blood related" plot disease. Overall, Evergreen felt like an extended episode of La Rosa de Guadalupe that dealt with the same problematic (passionate love between blood related siblings unaware of their relationship).

@MrF0x presents given with volumes are more in the line of special drawings or bromide photographies.

Btw, Haru possibly is a hafu. From her mom bloodline tho.

Btw, Souta having impure thoughts about Haru in the end of this chapter is a huge death flag. First he shall man himself, drift away from his mom and toxic environment as soon as he turns 15, get a part time job and then when he gain some confidence, go back to haru, yuri or whatever girl he meets in the future.

@MrMcNasty only on this occasion it's gonna be a blessing for him the "uncanny and raw Japan" he lives shits on him. Pushing his luck by asking for a kiss will scare, creep and piss Haru off and make her think he's Shin-Chan's sexually degenerate and unbound long lost elder brother.
