@Sem Well, first of all, Tono is just weird. She has her own off-kilter sensibilities and they don't really map to the standard morality of either today or 20-30 years ago, or for that matter of either here or Japan. One of the things I like about her.
It'd also be kind of off if a mythical kingdom had its crowned heads interacting like "woke" kids from the 2010s.

Yeah, nowadays we would never have a leader push crackpot remedies that could actively harm the people they care about and if things went south they would definitely never be forgiven and the aides that tried to prevent the leaders from doing so to protect their subjects would never be unceremoniously sent away.
