@Quiescent-Rose Just FYI, I didn't mean to continue the discussion. Or even having one in the first place when it's so off topic to begin with. All I did was just remind people that yes, the trans community considers it a slur. Not throwing accusations, not demanding a totally off topic discussion, or trying to derail the topic. Just that anytime I do this, some (likely transphobic) folks
completely losing their sh** because I did so. Some people just explode every time.
I don't think I'm even intelligent or qualified enough to have a deep discussion on it if I'm being honest. For the record I have no problems whatsoever with otokonoko characters, I judge them on a character-by-character basis.
Me? I'm going to stick to my two main guns.
A. it's considered a slur in most trans communities I've been to, largely because of its ideological similarity to "trans panic" legal defenses in murders. By contrast, the original Japanese word for these characters ("otokonoko") simply means "male daughter". Which I suppose someone, somewhere could still find offensive? But I can't see myself or anyone I know getting bothered by it, I think it sounds poetic tbh. Either way you're absolutely right they're subversive in a mostly positive way imo.
B. If people can't stand me reminding them of A and throw a tantrum over it, then kindly remind them that they're inviting themselves to be blocked.
And "by kindly reminding them", I mean treating it like the fishing trip it kind of is at this point. I'm kinda done engaging with them honestly. Still, I did appreciate how much thought you put into your comment and I didn't want to be rude to you or sound like I was blowing you off. I also apologize to everyone else reading this thread and finding this off topic discussion happening out of nowhere.
