My 6 year old Android can load it without issue (Firefox and Chrome). It really just sounds like Safari Chrome cannot handle the image size and dies on your device.
It has 4GB of RAM, and iOS being very well optimised for low memory usage doesn't magically make giant images not OOM Safari.
The vast majority of users reporting this issue are on iOS, and the only real solution is to use data-saver for lower resolution images that your device can actually render. v3 was way worse, longstrips over 20k constantly crashed Safari.
