Speaking of surgery which I'm totally not getting, if my friend drank coffee before her surgery, would it be bad?

Generally the doctors will spell out intake restrictions pre-surgery. Liquids are usually okay outside of gastrointestinal procedures, though the caffeine may not be entirely desirable.
