speaking of dragon i imagine some of them bond to evolve to be penguin.

just like how bird evolve into them, winged thing is so perfect to transform into penguin.There is niche to be filled and shall be filled. Also someone even imagine how bat would look like as penguin like creature.

also that guy seems like really want good dragon story but making story about animal as main character is kind of hard in my opinion. Especially if the dragon is dragon as is without changing anything.

They rarely being main character and always supporting one like with the "Hone dragon to mana musume" and "Fairy Tale". Making dragon as main character could work in kaijuu like setup where the dragon is summoned to fight other monster, or in kid like fable.

maybe i could work up some, like in parallel earth some human can psychic link with kaijuu, it was an adaptation against giant rampaging machine. So the story goes human and kaijuu were at war everyday, and one day humanity found the weapon to bring end to this war. The weapon is sentient robot to fight the kaijuu. instead of fighting the kaijuu the robot were break of control and attacking both side. Thus human and kaijuu put truce in the war. Human as the brain and kaijuu as the muscle, they both trying to stop the machine advance on destroying organic life.

Just as you said, making a story from the perspective of animals is hard, moreso if you want a dragon as the main character.
In most european fairy tales dragons/wyrm/wyvern/whatever serve as a great test, obstacle or enemy. Correct me if I am wrong, but in asian tales the hero has to earn the dragons respect, ask for its help, or honor it as a divine authority.
So how do you write about a main character that is strong, wise, rich (in some tales), immortal, powerful, etc. Easy, just like those usual Isekai/Fantasy stories, right? Well, those power fantasies are often made for readers to self-insert -> Human protagonist; 99.99% male; lacking notable features;.... you got the gist

I can imagine a story that focuses on the society of sentient magical creatures like dragons, griffins, unicorns etc. It's just that dragons are hard to draw, and even if there's skilled furries that make comics like that it'd be niche, and sure as hell nobody on a manga website would know about it.

Also there is a very good choices matter visual novel game about being a dragon on steam, where their senses of the world are vastly different from humans. Here humans are described as this weird new species. It's awesome and stirs your wanderlust.
