What would a ASUS Q540 Creator fan cost? This computer is for school.

Apparently $60~ on Ebay

Bit more than the 6€+shipping I got years back. MSI though and used a universal fan, not fancy pancy shit like this stuff.

But before you buy anything and start playing a mechanic, think do you really want to risk it?
If you don't have the tools and atleast some inkling of what you are doing, you might end up frying the whole damn thing.
A computer repair shop might be a valid option too, dunno how much would it cost, but it would remove the risk

Also contacting ASUS customer service for aid wouldn't be a bad call, I figure they have some free online chat nowadays.

If you want to do it yourself, first step is looking for prior cases/guides online. After that make sure you have the proper tools, screwdrivers mostly, but you need to have the exact size. Otherwise you'll bust up the soft tiny screws they use in computers and then good luck putting it all back together.
Also if the whole thing is busted, though you did say the left side one so it shouldn't require full switching, but it might still require thermal paste. Well, not really, but I bet they slapped it in there.

But first thing I'd do is look for a manual online, if ASUS isn't shitty, they might have something that details all the parts, but who knows.

Asus is shit customer support and refused to quote on replacing the fans. I've heard they hold computers ransom p. much and sometimes damage the outside. It also doesn't seem to be worth it, sadly. The trade-in value is only 400 dollars. v_v

That is presumably the broken fan, if it was the left side one, when in proper position.
Three screws, one connector and some (atleast in this picture I got from Reddit of the same model) QR code that might tell you which part that is.
Before you give up, might as well figure out what the QR code is, if it doesn't tell you what it is or you can't find online the separate part, then might as well give up.
No sense in buying the whole kit, when just one part is broken.

Whatever. My current computer interrupts me during class by going full throttle on the fan. It makes a scratching rumbling sound. I'll prefer just having to charge my computer more often. -.-

If you want something that can run anything in any meaningful way, battery life will not be your friend. You can make gaming laptops run longer, if you just don't do anything on them and set the maximum power saving options.

I got a chromebook for note making and writing etc, when I attended lectures. A tablet with the keyboard attachment would serve a similar purpose too. But those really are then for the baseline tasks, if you require anything complicated etc. then a laptop it is and might as well get something that can run 4k video and play geimus.
