what does following someone actually do though? I thought i would get notified on profile postings or such.

go to "What's New", drag the bar that contains "WHAT'S NEW, NEW POSTS, etc." to the left until you see "YOUR NEWS FEED"

click on that, and boom, you can see what the people you followed are doing (assuming they let you see that)

Pretty sure that at some point a year or two back, one of the GFG - @sterven, IIRC - had the entire first page of recent posts - 20 or 25 threads - with their name on every single thread. @BakedBanana might remember this.

Can't have shit in Detroit The Forums, Everything's already been done...

Yeah, sterven and pandascepter did it, maybe me, maybe dandan toon I don't remember
But it was just in the general, well the lounge now, I think having the main page is a first
