Just saw an interesting video on feathers.
In the comment section, there was an agreeable statement that the feather production industry does have some cruelty problems and that we really should look into ethical getting of the feathers that produce the least amount of suffering for the animals.

BUT... The answers were invaded by the militant vegans, who made a big stink about being against absolutely anything in that matter.
So I guess we can stop trying to compromise with ethics and stuff and go full wormhead and choose maximum suffering for the birds while we harvest their feathers. Just like a shitty thought experiment with basilisk in it.

When your ally sabotage itself it's very difficult to take things serious.
There is a theory around that the meat industry hires people to act like that online to make vegetarianism look bad.
These morons make it hard enough to have proper discussions about things that it's somewhat believable, but there are also enough idiots that do it for free.

Yeah, just stop oil is a prime suspect there. Their stunts with throwing colour at historical works of art didn't make sense at doing anything at raising awareness, instead shifting the entire talk away from it.

Let me guess : their argument was : "we don't want to reduce the suffering of birds we pluck feather from, we just don't want feathers to be plucked and birds should be free", am I right ?

That kind of reasoning is common nowadays : it's all or nothing, the in between is as worse as the full evil. Zoomers nedd to be spanked more, again.

yeah. Also hamfisting not eating meat and that a plantbased diet is so much more ethical and sooouls and shit.
They have no connection to nature at all. Bird Chicks are the kitkat bars of nature, ffs.
And I bet they have no problems with the fact that their "vegan" food likely resulted in a lot of insect deaths, pesticides, harvesting machines, nature destruction for fields... I cannot be a vegan simply because I know so much of those variables, that finding anything edible would require my complete attention
