That's what I would expect. In which case, it would just go back to the mod team being irresponsible with how they perform and communicate banning someone.

Though I will have to be fair: mods don't have any obligation to inform third parties about a ban. But they do to the person they're banning. This is all under the assumption that yoghurt really doesn't know why he was banned and no one on the mod team is willing to tell him.

I don't personally need to know the details, but this isn't the first time on this forum that I've seen mod actions being done without informing the person who did the offense why it was done. Maybe these were just random incidents out of countless mod actions. Maybe this is business as usual. Either way, it doesn't feel right.

Yeah, I agree. I also don't understand how the mods who responded seem to imply that they don't know who banned who. I would expect there to be a list of banned people so they could potentially unban a person early, which should also include the mod who added the ban.

Even if it doesn't, you'd expect they'd keep some kind of log so they would know to increase the ban duration if it's the Xth time a user breaks the same rule. Even if it's just to have some kind of internal accountability to avoid a mod going rogue. Heck, it could be as simple as a separate mod channel on discord or mod-only thread on the forum.

It's one thing if they don't want to out the person who banned a specific user, it's irresponsible not actually knowing.

I admit @boursk is my favourite user here who is named after food. So mature yet light with humour. I got a weird first impression which makes me think this guy is using Chat gpt most of the time to talk. But maybe that's just the way they choose to act here.

Like I said, I don't care too much what the reason was myself. I'm more annoyed that the ban message itself said nothing more than that it was a rule violation (but not which rule) and when yoghurt went to discord no mod is willing or able to give any kind of explanation.

If the mods don't like people breaking rules, they need to tell people what they did wrong when they punish people.
