i don't think he did know, actually. 95% of the anime series that Banana consumes are obscure titles that the broader group of 'anime normies' have never even heard of.

Basically:
Normie: "No way, you watch anime too? I'm a huge fan of One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto! Any recommendations?"
